Fort Worth's National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum and Hall of Fame has a full weekend of festivities leading up to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, on Monday.
From jazz concerts to a day of service, here's the museum's lineup of events honoring the civil rights activist and minister.
Friday: Civil Rights Pioneers Recognition Awards Program
Live-streaming on YouTube from The Warehouse at 1125 E. Berry St., the museum will host an awards presentation honoring civil rights leaders Xernona Clayton, Andrew Young, C. T. Vivian (posthumous), and John Lewis (posthumous). Dr. W. Marvin Dulaney, deputy director and COO of the African American Museum of Dallas, will deliver the keynote speech.
Saturday: MLK Jr. Day of Service
Donate canned goods and blankets at The Ranch at 3534 E. Berry St., while enjoying kid-friendly activities like face-painting, rock climbing, and more. Admission is free.
Saturday: David Whiteman Band in Concert
The 13-piece band will take the stage at The Warehouse for a high-energy night of pop, funk, hip-hop, and more. Concert-goers can attend the event in-person or virtually.
Sunday: An Evening of Jazz
On the eve of MLK Day, The Warehouse will host jazz musicians Donyale Renee, Bobby Falk, and Dewayne Washington & Faces the Band. Like Saturday night's concert, the show will be held both virtually and in-person.
