Ballet Frontier
Clockwise: Melvin Roberson and Victoria Trimble, Robin Skrine and Brayan Valencia, Emily Parker and Santiago Pacheco, Scotty Jones and Hannah Wakefield
Four locals will be strutting their stuff on "Dancing With the Stars" starting Friday night.
OK, no, not the actual show on ABC — it's a virtual competition and fundraiser hosted by Fort Worth-based ballet company Ballet Frontier of Texas. Ballet Frontier has paired dancers with four recognizable members of the community — the "stars," if you will — and will release videos of each couple's dance routine on Friday at 7 p.m.
The pairs are Dough Boy Donuts owner Melvin Roberson and dancer Victoria Trimble (Team Dough Boy Donuts), Dr. Robin Skrine and dancer Brayan Valencia (Team Doctors & Dancers), Humane Society of North Texas development manager Emily Parker and dancer Santiago Pacheco, and Dunham & Jones attorney Scotty Jones and dancer Hannah Wakefield.
The first round will pit Roberson against Jones on Friday, while the second round will feature Skrine competing against Parker on Sept. 11. Both will perform ballet routines with their dance partners.
The winners will then advance to the final round on Sept. 14 and perform a routine of their choice.
Winners are determined by popular vote — the way to vote is to make a donation to Ballet Frontier via the North Texas Giving day website. Every donation counts toward a certain number of votes ($20 for 15 votes, $50 for 75 votes, etc.), and each team's goal is to raise $3,000.
Voting for the first round takes place Friday through Sunday, while voting for the second round runs Sept. 11 – 13. After the final round on Sept. 14, Ballet Frontier will announce the winners at 7 p.m. on North Texas Giving Day itself, Sept. 17.
