Frank Artsmarter strikes again.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the artistic antics of one Christopher Blay, then you’re in for a treat tomorrow evening.
Blay is teaming up with William Campbell Contemporary Art to present VELVEASL! This art “challenge” follows the format of Blay’s annual Thrift Art Auction that parodies institutions like Christie’s and Sotheby’s. Thrift store paintings are given false titles, completely fabricated provenance and auctioned to raise funds for local artists in need.
This year, local artists were asked to create a painting exclusively on velvet.
