With the return of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (FWSO) also come a couple changes to the artist roster for the fall season.
Good changes — the first is acclaimed piano soloist Stewart Goodyear, performing the FWSO's first symphonic program on Sept. 18 – 20, and the second, conductor Roderick Cox, who'll lead the orchestra for the second symphonic program on Oct. 16 – 18.
Goodyear's performance — his first with the FWSO in 16 years — will feature works by Rossini, Saint-Saëns, and Mendelssohn, with Patrick Summers conducting.
Cox will guest conduct four performances that include works by Prokofiev, Rodrigo, and Beethoven, as well as guest guitar soloist Artyom Dervoed.
“The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to have Mr. Goodyear and Mr. Cox be a part of this historic performance season,” FWSO board chairman Mercedes T. Bass said in a statement. “These talented artists have shared their gift of music around the world, and we are delighted to welcome them to Fort Worth this fall.”
Both performances will take place at Bass Performance Hall. Due to the pandemic, the symphony is splitting this season's performances between Bass Hall and Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium. Masks are also required, and patrons must undergo a health screening before arriving at the venue, among other safety measures.
