A full day of wine, food and music is set for March 26, as the Waterside development at Bryant Irvin Road and Arborlawn Drive teams up with Social Running for the Wine Down Relay.
Teams of two or four will run along the Trinity River, down the new side of the trails in the recently completed extension and over the new pedestrian bridge. Regardless of the winner, each runner will receive a finisher corkscrew medal, souvenir wine glass and T-shirt. The first five teams to finish the 18-mile relay will receive an engraved wine decanter.
Several tenants, including Whole Foods Market, Tasty Tidbits and others will also be participating, and Waterside will provide on-site wine tastings from five local wineries and live music. For avid wine-drinkers who just want to drink while others run, wine passes are $20 and come with five tasting tickets, a souvenir wine glass and admission to the after-race party.
“There is not yet a wine-themed fun run in Fort Worth, and there are rarely any relay-style events,” said Abby Waldron, public relations executive at Waterside. “Waterside owners like to bring first-to-market tenants and events to Fort Worth.”
Proceeds will benefit local nonprofit organization Streams & Valleys.
In addition to the Wine Down Relay, Waterside will be kicking off free workout classes in the Grove. The classes include Core Power Yoga and Mashup Mondays.
“We want the people of Fort Worth to see Waterside as their second living room – a place where they can find healthy, sustainable and inspiring shops and activities away from home, work or school,” Waldron said.
