The Cookery
South Main has a new place to grab a bite — so long as you’re willing to make it yourself.
The Cookery, a popular Dallas cooking school, expects to open its second location in Fort Worth, at 710 South Main St., Ste. 130, by the end of May, according to owner Kelly Huddleston.
Classes are available for individuals or parties. Hosts can invite a guest list of around 14-16 to take the three-hour class at $95 per person, which includes paired beverages. Attendees start by enjoying an appetizer and cocktail before grabbing an apron and getting down to business. The class prepares one course at a time, then dines together around a farm table.
"The atmosphere feels like cooking at a friend's home — relaxed and paced in courses," Huddleston says. "It's a great place to meet new friends."
Huddleston grew up in the Puget Sound region of Washington state. As an only child, she found herself pressed into service as her mother's sous chef, at a young age — then cooking became her life's work. She served as an assistant culinary teacher all over the West Coast in places like Los Angeles, Santa Anna, Portland and Seattle, before moving to Dallas about three years ago. She launched The Cookery around that time.
Having traveled and studied extensively oversees, Huddleston loves teaching new techniques and cuisines at The Cookery. Some recent classes have included Sushi Arigato, Pasta Perfecto, Bahn Thai, Farm to Table, Passage to India, Best of Brunch and Evening in Paris.
"I'm looking forward to sharing the experience with even more people," she says.
