1. Portillo’s
A Chicago-based chain known for its Italian beef (you had me at Italian beef) and hot dogs is on its way to the Fort Worth area. The restaurant applied for a permit to start construction at 2491 North Tarrant Parkway, according to Bud Kennedy. The first location in Dallas-Fort Worth is at 5752 Grandscape Blvd. in The Colony. It’s set to open in the fall.
2. The Pantry
All right, Fort Worth, a new dumpling has come to town, The Pantry showcases fresh Asian cooking. Hao Tran and Natasha Bruton opened the restaurant on Magnolia Avenue with dishes inspired by family recipes. The grand opening was on Aug. 21.

3. Maiden Fine Plants & Spirits
Maiden Fine Plants & Spirits is under construction on the Near Southside in the soon-to-be PS1200 project building. From the mind of the vegan restauranteur Amy McNutt (Spiral Diner) comes this vegan fine dining concept.

4. F1 Smokehouse
F1 Smokehouse has had its food truck present near Press Cafe in Clearfork. It will open its full restaurant sometime this winter off of West 5th street. You can still find the food truck open after its summer hiatus, returning in September back at Clearfork.

5. Birdie Social Club
Birdie Social Club flew in when Lola’s left its former location on West 6th. This is an open concept with inside and outside options. It will open on Aug. 31 with live music, a food truck, and enough champagne to pop around. Leading up to their grand opening, Birdie’s is having a soft opening this week Aug. 23 – 31.
