It's out of the Airstream and into a permanent home for The Dusty Biscuit.
The beignet pop-up, which currently sells out of the "Fork Worth" Airstream managed by food business incubator Locavore, announced Friday that it will be taking over the former Alchemy Pops space at 411 S. Main St.
"[Alchemy Pops owner] Carolyn [Phillips] has been a great friend and cheerleader for us, and I hope to do her proud," Dusty Biscuit owner Trey Smith wrote in an Instagram post.
It's another step-up for the beignet bar that began as a pop-up at local coffee shops and breweries. The Dusty Biscuit built a following for both its classic and atypical offerings, from the Everything Beignet-gal, topped with cream cheese and everything bagel seasoning, to the Monte Cristo sandwich, made with beignet bread and served with a side of strawberry-jalapeño jam.
No opening date for the storefront has been announced as "we are still a few months out with getting all the details settled," Smith wrote on Instagram. In the meantime, Smith plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign within the next few weeks to help raise funding for the new location.
"We want to keep French Quarter funky in the Fort for years to come, and you can help make it happen!" Smith wrote. "For now, I'm gonna raise my cup of Café au Lait to all of you and try not to spill it 'cause dang, it is hot!"
