Best Maid
Best Maid Pickle Emporium
If you're out of luck scouring the stores for Best Maid's Spicy Bloody Mary pickles or Xtreme Sours, the Fort Worth-based pickle company's upcoming retail shop may have the jar you're looking for.
The Best Maid Pickle Emporium is coming soon to 829 W. Vickery Blvd., next to Quorum Architects and across the street from the former Firestone & Robertson building. The shop will carry branded merchandise like clothing, magnets, and other gifts, as well as food items like pickled okra and barbecue sauce — and, of course, pickles, including the harder-to-find varieties.
An exact opening date is still undecided due to COVID-19, but Best Maid is eyeing June, says director of marketing Emily Christy.
"We have a ton of obsessed pickle fans, whom we love. Our mascot Smiley, the little girl on the jar with her tongue sticking out, people get her tattooed all over their body," Christy says. "This is a destination experience for the hardcore pickle fanatics as well as your neighbor who's looking for barbecue sauce for their next backyard event."
Construction on the space is nearly done. Doug PlesKovitch of Fort Worth home décor shop WRARE is helping with interior installations. Along with retail, the space will also feature exhibits telling the history of Best Maid.
"We think it's going to be a tourism destination," Christy says. "We're hoping it's a good fit for the Near Southside."
