A brand new Blue Goose Cantina will soon open at University Park Village and serve up authentic Tex-Mex.
The Fort Worth spot joins a gaggle of other locations already in Addison, Frisco, Grapevine, Highland Village, McKinney, Plano, and the first location that opened on Lower Greenville in Dallas over three decades ago in 1984.
The University Park Village spot was once the longtime home of Blue Mesa before it built its own two-story near Montgomery Plaza, as well as Bread Winners Café & Bakery for a brief time.
Known for a laid-back atmosphere, quality ingredients and handmade sauces, tamales and tortillas, Blue Goose should fit right in when it opens in early December.
“We have totally gutted the space, painted the outside white and added our blue awnings,” says general manager Alysha Elder. The patio area is now completely covered, and will be ready no matter the weather, fitted with both Big Ass fans and scattered heaters.
“The inside has added brick tiles as well as colorful tiles both inside and out,” Elder says. A private dining room has been added toward the back. It is caged in decorative mesquite wood, and enclosed with sliding glass doors.
The menu will be the same as other locations with the addition of some TCU-inspired cocktails. “We are a scratch kitchen and bar,” Elder says. “We are known for slinging fajitas and margaritas ― which are potent. And all of our cocktails and margaritas contain fresh-squeezed juices.”
Expect Blue Goose Cantina to launch their famous weekend brunches on Saturdays and Sundays soon after they open. Those run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys.
