The standout pink building of Casa Rita Margaritas, nestled on North Fort Worth’s Main Street, is enough to catch anyone’s eye.
Owner Ruben Alvarado, a lifelong Fort Worth native, had the idea of purchasing the historic Douglas building — once known for serving some of the town’s coldest brews — and giving it a modern facelift. Alvarado first got his hands on the property in Jan. 2021 and partnered with local artist Sarah Ayala to transform the iconic building into an homage to Fort Worth’s Latino legacy.
“I wanted to have something that looked similar to the style of Miami, Los Angeles, and Mexico City in the mural, but with a little Fort Worth flair on it,” Alvarado says when sharing where he got the inspiration for the mural design and vibrant colors of the building. “I asked around for a good mural artist, and [those I asked] recommended Sarah.”

The building is tailor-made for a drive-thru experience, but walk-in customers are also welcome. The menu is short but satisfying, offering six flavors and spicy michelada mix to pair with any beer orders. Despite being a slight jaunt from campus, the Casa Rita serves a TCU-themed margarita aptly called “Frozen Froggie.”
“You can’t be in Fort Worth and not have a TCU-based drink,” Alvarado admits. “I wanted to keep it simple with a couple of menu items.”
We at Fort Worth Magazine took it upon ourselves to investigate the margarita chateau and picked up the Rita Colada and Fresita Strawberry Margarita, which yours truly thoroughly enjoyed. The new cold and refreshing margaritas get the online journalist’s seal of approval.
