Día De Los Muertos Menu
Halloween schmalloween, everyone knows the real party is celebrating Dia de Los Muertos. And, if you’re looking for a way to pay homage to the Mexican holiday, downtown’s Toro Toro just might be the place to be.
According to a press release, the Latin steakhouse will have an exclusive Dia de Los Muertos menu available through Nov. 6., which includes Mole Coloradito Palo, Santo Pan de Muerto, and a passion fruit and aloe santo cocktail. put on a one-day-only brunch that will include a traditional Mayan Copal Ceremony, as part of its Dia de Los Muertos promotional menu, available through Nov. 6.
In addition, as Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, Chef Richard Sandoval will prepare a one-day-only, four-course brunch menu at Toro Toro this Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The mid-morning and early-afternoon festivities will include a Mayan Copal Ceremony guided by healer Nataline Cruz. During the ceremony, Cruz will burn tree resin used for healing in pre-Columbian Meso-American tribes to balance all participants before the brunch begins. The ceremony will pay homage to attendees' ancestors with a tribute to those who have passed. Cruz encourages people to bring pictures of their departed loved ones to place on the Dia de Los Muertos Offrenda.
The brunch offered at the event is four-courses and rich with traditional Mayan flavors. The first course served is a tortilla Talavera with marigold and pumpkin seed tortillas paired with a selection of sauces. Second, guests will enjoy an antojitos plate with red snapper ceviche, chicken anticucho, and abirria short rib taco. The third course includes brisket eggs benedict with a mole coloradito enchilada and potatoes. The meal ends on a sweet note with a waffle and cranberry compote.
