The former owner of the Fort Worth Food Park has a new project in the works.
Chris Kruger is developing a food and playground concept at 3501 Hulen St., a project dubbed "Hulen Food + Fun." The development consists of a 5,000-square-foot building and adjacent children's play area. The entire project totals about an acre.
Kruger says he's currently looking for tenants to occupy the building -- specifically, a "family-friendly" food vendor (think burgers and chicken fingers), a dessert vendor and a coffee shop.
Fort Worth-based architect 97w is designing the space, which is meant to have an "urban barn look," Kruger says.
Design for the play area has not been finalized, but initial plans include a rock climbing wall, slides, berm hill and racetrack for Big Wheel bikes.
Kruger says construction should start after all tenants have signed, and the development is expected to open in spring 2018.
