Best Festival
Looks like foodies will have to wait until 2021 for burger battles and taco taste tests.
The Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival announced it will cancel its 2020 event due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled for Oct. 22 – 25, the event will now take place April 8 – 11, 2021.
Still, the festival — whose proceeds go toward the Fort Worth Food + Wine Foundation, which raises funds for local grant programs and culinary scholarships — will continue supporting local restaurants through its Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. The $100,000 fund is meant to help food service professionals who've struggled as a result of COVID-19, and so far, nearly $90,000 have been distributed.
“The Fort Worth Food + Wine Foundation is here to serve local food industry businesses and their employees who show up each day to forge ahead during these uncertain times,” Russell Kirkpatrick, co-founder of the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival, said in a statement. “They’ve played an essential role in the growth of the festival and the advancement of our local culinary scene, and we want them to know we have their backs.”
In a news release, the festival also teased "dedicating Oct. 19 – 25, 2020, to celebrating area food and beverage businesses." The festival will announce details in early August.
