There’s a new time travel-themed bar gearing up in west Fort Worth — a DeLorean time machine may or may not be included.
McFly’s Neighborhood Pub aims to open up in about five weeks. The venue at 6104 LTJG Barnett Road is smack dab against the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, and Casey and Kelsy Smith hope to breathe new life into a stretch of the city that’s lacking in new concepts.
The couple’s got past experience running The Where House, which closed a few years ago after a stretch in the Hemphill Street neighborhood. They’re now back, and hope to trick out their building with loads of murals, an expansive patio space, and an outdoor grill station.
Live music will help enliven the space, and there are even plans for a food truck and rotating chefs.
“It’s going to be a little bit of a cocktail but not a fancy cocktail place. And it’s not a dive bar by any means,” Casey says. Drink selection will have about 10 beers on draft alongside 15 canned and bottled selections.
Not much in the way of business activity is going on in that stretch of Fort Worth, Casey says. But the duo hopes to pull the community together in the funky, fresh new spot.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Casey says. “We’re looking forward to giving it a good time.”
