Just two months after Thurber Mingus closed its location at 4400 White Settlement Road, a new restaurant has announced it's moving in.
That restaurant is Heim Barbecue, a barbecue joint that has gained popularity through its food truck and brick-and-mortar location at 1109 West Magnolia Ave. Owner Travis Heim announced via Facebook on Tuesday that the restaurant would open a second location at White Settlement Road. He wrote that Heim Barbecue intends to continue using the building's outdoor patio but will also do some renovations to "get the space up to our standards."
"Emma [Heim's wife and co-owner] and I were amazed to find out that the location that we had talked about (and dreamed about) all those years ago was available!" Heim wrote. "We had very little interest in opening another restaurant, since we knew the amount of work, time, and money that would be involved but this was truly an opportunity that we could not pass up!"
The menu should remain the same, along with some smaller snack items, a kids' menu and vegetarian options, Heim wrote.
He wrote the location will be open some time in 2017, but an exact date has not yet been set.
