Lettuce Cook Super Food Kale Salad
Super Food Kale Salad
Lettuce Cook is planting a itself in the TCU area.
The deli and catering company — popular in The River District for its gourmet grab-and-go offerings — will open a second location Wednesday at 3522 Blue Bonnet Circle, the former space of Greenwood's German Restaurant and Bakery.
According to owner Natalie Brown, the TCU-area Lettuce Cook will carry over all the same menu items from The River District location, along with fried offerings and — as soon as they get a permit — beer and wine. Until then, customers are encouraged to BYOB.
Like its River District predecessor, the TCU location will have its share of Instagrammable artwork. The 2,800-square-foot space will sport a painted horned frog and mural by artist Lisa Voight, which depicts colorful animals made up of different foods — a homage to the Fort Worth Zoo. The space will also feature a disco ball and 1961 Chevy Corvair pickup, serving as the divider between the sandwich line and grab-and-go area.
Brown says she's grateful to have a growing business in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that opening the second location "was actually a pleasant experience, considering."
"[Husband and chef] Todd and I are both from Fort Worth, so being a part of Blue Bonnet Circle feels right," Brown says. "We are old school, and so is the circle."
