Loft22 Cakes is generally known for its inventive — and eye-catching — creations, from elaborate floral designs to the recent toilet paper cakes that became wildly popular during the COVID-19 pandemic.
But this weekend, the Near Southside bakery is serving a simple, dark chocolate cake — for a cause.Â
In response to the death of George Floyd, Loft22 will serve a Blackout cake, available both by the slice and as a whole, 6-inch cake. Fifty percent of sales made over the weekend will be donated to blacklivesmatter.org, an organization that, according to its website, works to "end state-sanctioned violence, liberate black people, and end white supremacy forever."
More information about Loft22 Cakes can be found on the bakery's website.Â
