Our neighborhood Rahr and Sons Brewing Co. is launching two new beers this fall, Drahthaar and USS Fort Worth.
Drahthaar
“Drahthaar, which is a breed of German hunting dog, is named in honor of the Rahr family's drahthaar, Schnapps. The beer is a double IPA with a bold malty flavor and a crisp aroma that includes notes of citrus, pine and grapefruit. It will be available the first week of August in 22-ounce bottles and on draft.”
A celebration, debuting the Drahthaar, will take place Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Guests will receive a free pint glass. Tickets are available for $10 at the door.
USS Fort Worth
“An American session ale dedicated to the crew of the naval ship USS Fort Worth, a Freedom class littoral combat ship—the last week of August prior to Labor Day. The beer is light gold in color, crisp and clean with a medium body and a mild citrus finish.”
A portion of the proceeds, whether purchased in the 12-ounce can or on draft, will benefit supportive services organization, USS Fort Worth Support Committee, for the ship’s crew and families.
“I am proud to live and work in the city of Fort Worth, and it is an honor to have our city's name on such prestigious naval ship with a first-class crew,” said Fritz Rahr, owner of Rahr & Sons.
A launch party will be held Saturday, Sept. 5 from 1-3 p.m. All guests will receive a pint glass, and the USS Fort Worth will be available on tap. To celebrate, members of the U.S. Navy will be attending. Tickets are available for $10 at the door.
“We wanted to recognize the brave men and women of USS Fort Worth, as well as the other armed forces members with this special brew,” Rahr said.
