Patrick and Erika Lai came to play. They’re taking the “sit and stay awhile” approach to a whole new level.
Game Theory | Fort Worth Board Game Lounge, located at 804 S. Main St., Suite 110, plans to open on July 27 with a party from 3 to 9 p.m. Co-owners Patrick and Erika hope you will ditch your kitchen table and instead bring your family and friends for game night at their place.
With hundreds of board games to choose from, you can play an old favorite or embark on a game you've never even heard of before. They will even have "Game Guides" on hand to help you with setup and teach you how to play − no reason to waste time fumbling through the directions.
Gain access to the full library of more than 500 games by paying a $5 fee/cover. Game Theory is kid friendly, too. Children 7 and under play free. No outside games, please.
Party rooms are available by reservation with a $15 per person food and beverage minimum. But playing a board game is not required to enjoy the space. You can also choose to stop in for food and drinks without paying the library access fee.
Game Theory's soft opening menu has a collection of affordable pot pies ($2.75 for mini pies or $5.50 for regular pot pies). It also has an entire section of sausage plates (bratwurst, andouille, jalapeño cheddar, or Thai) served on either a Hawaiian bun or a pretzel roll for $1 more.
Libations from the board-game-clad bar will include a fun craft cocktail line-up, as well as some nostalgic pouch drinks. Flashback to childhood and the astounding amount of Capri Suns you put away − Game Theory is filling similar pouch and straw designs with their own variety of adult slushies.
