Brix Barbecue
Brix Barbecue, which local BBQ snobs have been scarfing up since 2017, has officially accomplished the full modern-day restaurant evolution from pop-up to food truck to brick and mortar.
First reported by our buddy Malcolm Mayhew over at CultureMap, the restaurant’s new 2,300-square-foot space, which they plan on opening in early 2022, will be at a relatively underdeveloped area of the Near Southside at 1012 South Main St., which, if you Google Earth it, is right next to music venue/bar/record store Main at South Side.
According to the article by Mayhew, local architectural firm DVAM will design the space, which will include an indoor and outdoor bar, dining room, large patio, and a second smoker to boot.
“The shell is there, but everything else will have to be built from the ground-up,” owner Trevor Sales told CultureMap. “It’s not a place that used to be a restaurant, so it’ll take some time to get it built out.”
According to CultureMap, Sales hopes the location will spearhead additional development near the Rosedale/South Main intersection.
Most current menu items — including his mouthwatering brisket — will find their way onto the brick and mortar’s menu, but patrons to the new location will likely see some new items, as well.
However, the restaurant’s Smash Burger, which made its way onto our Best New Burgers list, will likely become a Friday-only special.
