Rahr & Sons is turning 12 this year, and to celebrate, the Fort Worth craft brewery is launching a new beer named after a German phrase meaning "12 years."
The beer is called Zwölfjahre, an American Wheatwine aged for 12 weeks (see the theme here?) in cabernet wine barrels with cherries. The beer blends German and American yeast with wheat and a hint of citrus.
Rahr & Sons will debut the beer on tap at its Fort Worth brewery on Nov. 5 as part of its 12th anniversary celebration. The event will allow attendees to sample more than 60 beers, enjoy live music and food trucks, and take home a commemorative pint glass.
The beer will be available to the rest of Dallas-Fort Worth in 22-ounce bottles or on tap at places carrying Rahr & Sons.
Rahr & Sons has come a long way from its early days when it first opened in 2004. The brewery started out producing about 2,000 barrels a year. Now, Rahr & Sons produces more than 20,000 barrels a year.
