When Love appeared on Iron Chef America in the past, he won a battle against Masaharu Morimoto, the longest-running chef on the show.
The theme of the first show was resourcefulness. Love and nine other contestants headed for the beach, where they were asked to use fire pits to compete. Each contestant was assigned an ingredient, and Love got kale.
Chef Love decided to make a kale salad similar to the one he serves at the Woodshed Smokehouse.
Love seemed unbothered by the challenge and even used a portion of his competition time to pour himself a glass of wine and cook a steak.
Unfortunately, Love scored poorly among the judges, Simon Majumdar, Donatella Arpaia and Geoffrey Zakarian, and had a final match-off with Chef Spike Mendelsohn with pineapple as a secret ingredient. Love failed to advance to the next round.
But don't worry! Local fans still have Chef Love's culinary contributions available at Lonesome Dove, the Love Shack and the Woodshed Smokehouse.
