What does beauty mean to you?
I believe beauty is extending grace to one another and accepting and appreciating the subtleties that make us all unique.
Who is your beauty/style icon?
I can't pinpoint one person as my beauty and style icon, but I find inspiration everywhere. Style and beauty today is anything goes and I love that. What makes you feel good on the inside should be reflected on the outside.
Who is your female role model, and why?
Julia Child is a role model of mine. My mom gave me her book, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” when I moved into my first apartment. While I made plenty of mistakes along the way, I learned to make some of the most delicious things with real butter – lots of butter. I channel Julia's philosophy not only in cooking but throughout life. Her spirit encourages me not to fear the unfamiliar - just go for it; laugh a lot; appreciate the good and simple things in life and share them with others.
What are your hobbies?
Cooking is my favorite hobby. I love to host my family and friends and build memories through sharing meals together. I also have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy the landscape by running. My motto is cook, eat, run, repeat. I also enjoy volunteering with several Fort Worth organizations, bible study and anything crafty – including homemade Halloween costumes for my Labrador retriever.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I'm addicted to spicy food.
Why did you choose Fort Worth?
I am originally from the Midwest and visited Fort Worth on a mission trip with my church when I was in high school. We stayed in the TCU dorms and I fell in love with the campus. TCU was the only school I applied to and thank goodness they let me in. I met my husband in Fort Worth and we have been fortunate to stay here ever since.
What is your favorite thing about Fort Worth?
I love the energy you feel in Fort Worth as it grows and evolves. Much has changed in the last few years and the excitement generated by exploring new things in our city is electric.
What do you consider your best feature or characteristic? (physical or non-physical).
My best characteristic is the ability to laugh at myself. I'm clumsy at times, I put my foot-in-my-mouth often and while I always sing along with songs on the radio, I rarely get the lyrics right. I am laughed at often, but I'll gladly join in – even if the laughter is at my own expense.
