BODYBAR
Pilates enthusiasts who've wanted to try BODYBAR — but shied away from West Seventh traffic — now have another option south of Interstate 30.
The Tanglewood neighborhood is getting its own BODYBAR, opening Saturday at 3000 S. Hulen St. This is the pilates studio's fourth location, the others being in West Seventh Street, Dallas, and Plano.
Kamille McCollum, who co-owns the studio with husband, Matt, says Tanglewood's tight-knit community was what drew them to the area.
"Seeing 12-year-old girls riding their bikes through the neighborhood to come over here and get Marble Slab, or the way that during the pandemic, [Tanglewood Moms] has been able to come together and have real conversations — we just felt like this is the perfect community for us to be involved in because that's all that we're about too, supporting each other," she says.
BODYBAR specializes in reformer pilates, a more intense style of pilates that utilizes machinery to tone muscles, increase heart rate, and burn fat.
Of course, with COVID-19, classes aren't entirely back to normal. Participants are required to wear masks for the duration of the workout. Machines are also spaced out for social distancing and disinfected after every use.
Thankfully for BODYBAR, COVID-19 hasn't had a negative impact on customer demand, Matt McCollum says.
"As a business owner, we've got to stay open for our clients, but we want to do our part to stop the spread too," he says.
The studio offers virtual classes as well. More information can be found at BODYBAR's website.
