This bread was my go-to supper side when raising my kids. It’s so quick and easy, you’ll never buy a beer bread mix again. After baking this version a few times, you might want to stir in ½ cup or so of shredded Parmesan or sharp cheddar cheese.
3 cups self-rising flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1, 12-ounce bottle beer
¼ - ½ cup salted butter, melted
1. Preheat oven to 350º. Spray 8 x 4-inch loaf pan with non-stick coating.
2. In a large bowl, use a wooden spoon to stir together flour, sugar, salt and beer. This batter will be thick and sticky. Spread into prepared loaf pan and bake 20 minutes.
3. Pull loaf pan out of the oven far enough to pour melted butter all over the top. Return to oven and bake another 20 minutes.
